Madame Bovary – Theatre Performance in Yambol
Madame Bovary – Theatre Performance in Yambol
On November 4, 2026, the Nevena Kokanova Drama Theatre presents Madame Bovary, based on the celebrated novel by Gustave Flaubert.
What if the life we dream of is already happening – just somewhere without us?
Emma Bovary is constantly haunted by the fear that life in all its fullness exists somewhere else, in other worlds, and that the present can never offer her enough.
The many possible versions of herself lead her to constantly measure the distance between reality and her ideal. This creates a deep sense of dissatisfaction, transforming her dreams into more than aspirations – they become a refuge, an imaginary world offering an escape from reality.
When does the desire for something more become an inability to accept the present? What happens when the life we live seems too ordinary compared with the ideal we imagine?
The production explores questions of human longing, love, happiness and the price of endlessly searching for a more perfect life.
