Ormana

Ormana is one of the most popular natural areas near Yambol. Located north of the city along the Tundzha River, it attracts visitors looking for walks, sports, picnics and time outdoors.

The area covers approximately 7,500 decares and is characterised by a combination of lowland woodland and a rich variety of plant and animal species.

Lowland forest and protected plants

One of Ormana's most distinctive natural features is its characteristic riverside vegetation. The woodland includes species such as summer oak, field elm, ash, poplar and willow, together with other trees typical of lowland forests.

The area is also home to naturally occurring protected plant species, including marsh snowflake. Ormana is associated with the conservation of the Kolkhida pheasant.
